01 - In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, butter, dill (if using), salt, and pepper until smooth and homogeneous.
02 - Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each bread slice using a butter knife or offset spatula.
03 - Layer cucumber slices in a single overlapping layer on half of the prepared bread slices.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down, over the cucumbers to close the sandwiches.
05 - Gently press each sandwich and cut into quarters using a sharp knife, shaping into rectangles or triangles as preferred.
06 - Serve immediately or store under a damp paper towel in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
